Privacy Policy

Last updated: 14 October 2026

We built Capzax so that your videos stay on your phone. This policy explains what little data we do handle, why, and what your choices are.

The short version

  • We never receive your videos, captions or projects. They stay on your phone.
  • We keep a small account record: an anonymous ID, your plan and usage, and a recovery email only if you add one.
  • In Cloud AI mode, only the audio goes to a speech provider, directly from your phone.
  • No ads. No tracking cookies on this website.

1. Who is responsible

Capzax is a product of Zaxvix, Gothenburg, Sweden. Zaxvix is the controller of the personal data described here. Contact: see the end of this page.

2. What we handle

On your phone only: your videos, captions, styles and projects. We do not receive or store them.

Account record: a random account ID created automatically, your plan, your monthly Cloud AI allowance and credits, and device tokens (stored in hashed form) so your phone can talk to our server.

Recovery email (optional): if you add one, we store it (in lower case) and send you one-time codes to confirm it or to restore your account. Codes are stored hashed and expire after a few minutes.

Usage records: when you start a Cloud AI caption we record that it happened and whether it finished, so that allowances and credits are correct.

Contact form: your email, subject and message, so we can reply.

Website: we do not use analytics or advertising cookies. Our hosting provider keeps standard server logs (such as IP address and browser type) for security and reliability.

3. Cloud AI and speech providers

When you choose Cloud AI, your phone extracts the audio track of the video and sends it directly to a speech-recognition provider, using a short-lived token that our server issues. Our servers do not receive the audio. The provider processes the audio to return the text, under its own terms and privacy policy. Currently the provider is AssemblyAI.

If you choose “On this phone”, nothing is sent anywhere.

4. Why we use data

To provide the app and your account (contract), to keep the service secure and prevent abuse and to count allowances correctly (legitimate interests), to send recovery codes and keep your recovery email (your consent, which you can withdraw by asking us to remove it), and to answer your messages.

5. Who we share it with

We do not sell your data. We share only what is needed with service providers that work for us, such as hosting and email delivery, and with the speech provider for Cloud AI as described above. We may disclose data if the law requires it.

Some providers may process data outside your country. When data is transferred outside the EU/EEA, we rely on appropriate safeguards.

6. How long we keep it

Account data is kept while your account is active and is deleted when you ask us to delete your account. One-time codes expire within minutes. Contact messages are kept as long as needed to handle your request.

7. Your rights

You can ask us for access to your data, to correct it, to delete it, to restrict or object to its use, or to receive a copy. You can withdraw consent at any time. To use any of these rights, email us from the address linked to your account.

You can also complain to the Swedish Authority for Privacy Protection (IMY, imy.se) or to your local data protection authority.

8. Security

We protect data in transit with encryption and store device tokens and codes in hashed form. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to keep your data safe.

9. Children

Capzax is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data.

10. Changes

We may update this policy. When we make important changes we will tell you in the app or on this website.
